BUG LIST

 1.              The line at Aldi always being so long and time consuming
WHY: There are not enough staff to do everything in the store, so they always only have one cashier at the register.

2.     Always having to wait for equipment at Southwest Rec center.
WHY: They gym gets pretty packed around 5-6pm meaning a lot of equipment is being used so it feels like there is not enough of it. Watching someone take their sweet time is very irritating.

3.      Having to carry phone or jacket or wallet when going out to a night club
WHY: the clubs do not have lockers or any type of storage unit to keep things safe while people are out dancing. This results in people having to carry everything in their hands or pockets which comes with the risk or losing something or it being stolen

4.     IPhones getting rid of the standard headphone jack
WHY: this in a way brings in more revenue for apple because users now have to spend money on their headphones and headphone adapters. But makes this complicated for the consumer when they have regular headphones

5.     Newer Macbooks having the standard headphone jack instead of the apple one.
WHY: with apple users straining away from headphones with the standard headphone jack, it is annoying to constantly having to switch types of headphones.

6.     Gainesville street parking
WHY: the street parking time/ rules and regulations make it impossible to visit a friend or go somewhere at a convenient time. There needs to be more parking available for UF students and Gainesville residents

7.     Superior Towing charges
WHY: They charge victims ridiculous prices at their own discretion which is downright ridiculous and not fair. College students cannot afford these ridiculous prices for just parking their car somewhere.

8.     Kylie Cosmetics matte liquid lipsticks formula
WHY: for a pretty high-end product, the formula of these lipsticks sucks. After a while, the color on your lips is completely different from when you originally put it on. It gets even worse when it comes in contact with liquids. This is annoying because it really makes a difference with the rest of the makeup look once you notice your lips are a different color.

9.     Having to replace a toothbrush every 3 months
WHY: the quality of the bristles diminishes with time; but this is also not very sustainable for the environment being that most toothbrushes are made out of plastic and are not biodegradable.

10.  Updating IOS software on older iPhones
WHY: apple does this on purpose to get consumers to buy the newer phones

11.  Majority of produce being wrapped in plastic packaging
WHY: this makes it cheaper for companies to keep it fresh for the time being; but after a certain period of time this actually spoils the produce because of the excess moisture gathering up in the plastic

12.  Instagram’s new update not letting users see how many likes there are per picture
WHY: this is to stop people from trying so hard to seem perfect and showing off unrealistic standards and lifestyles

13.  Having to pay for parking on campus aside from paying a hefty tuition
WHY: This is UF’s way of making more money off students; not to mention they sell an absurd amount of decals that don’t amount for the parking spaces available

14.  Needing to have a UF decal in order to park at Southwest Rec before 3:30 pm
WHY: This is another way for the University to make money off of selling parking decals

15.  Paper straws at McDonald’s
WHY: this is an effort to make their products more compostable and environmentally friendly, but after 10 minutes of sipping on iced coffee, the straw starts to soften and deteriorate making it difficult to sip a drink

16.   Disposable vape devices running out fairly quickly
WHY: This is a way to keep the customer by having them come in and buy more as soon as it runs out. Which also ties in with the company's strategy to keep on making money.

17. IPhone 7 plus battery longevity
WHY: this is probably due to the amount of storage available, as well as new software updates interfering with the phone to make the consumer want to get rid of it and purchase the latest version

18. Coming home from a tailgate with muddy, destroyed sneakers
WHY: tailgates get pretty messy and rowdy, so it makes perfect sense that no matter how hard you try to keep your kicks clean, it almost just never works out at a tailgate.

19. Hulu ads
WHY: makes sense that companies would use this huge platform as a way to advertise their products, especially since the consumer does not have the choice of skipping the ad and is forced to watch the whole minute.

20. chipotle quick pick up
WHY: the placement of the shelf at this particular chipotle chain makes it extremely easy for someone to just come in and take what isn't theirs; thus getting free food at the expense of somebody else.

Reflection: This bug was list was not so difficult for me. To get a better picture, before I started I wrote down a list in my journal of things that I use almost everyday, things I like to do, things I don't like to do and so on. This just made things easier in the sense that now I have certain things I could pick apart, and this allowed my ideas and bugs to flow.

  1. Hi Gracie!
After reading your post, I realized that I had many more "bugs" than I thought I did. I noticed that your post focused on products that you use in your day-to-day. This made your post very relatable since many of us forget about these things since it is a very small aspect of our routine. I appreciated your attention to detail on your "bugs". I'm glad you included how you tackled this post since it was quite difficult. All in all, you have an awesome post here. I can't wait to see what you come up with next! Good luck!

  2. Hello Gracie!
I related to a lot of the bugs on your list, especially the parking ones. I like how a lot of your bugs were focused on events that occur often, rather than ones that are annoying when they do happen every so often. I agree that the bug list wasn't too difficult, especially as I started thinking about normal things that do bug me it became easier to keep listing. I love the idea of a journal, as this exercise was a nice self-reflection and I think it's very beneficial to continue to have a mindset like this.

  3. Hi Gracie!
I found your bug list to be very relatable. One bug that stuck out to me most was apple changing the iPhone headjack for it to not fit the standard headphone. I find this so annoying because apple has taken over the world, so whatever they do everyone just follows along. This forces us to buy new adaptors and chords more frequently. This was the first reflection post that I read where the writer did not feel it was a challenging assignment. I appreciated you including why it was not challenging for you. I really enjoyed reading your post!
